bibisco Novel Writing Software

What’s new in bibisco 2.4?

Hello writers! I am very excited to announce the release of the new version of bibisco, the 2.4!

As always, I want to thank all the writers who have given me ideas and suggestions to make bibisco even more beautiful and helpful.

Thank you very much, and please continue to send me your proposals at We will probably not implement all of them, but we will certainly read and evaluate them carefully.

And now let’s take a look at what’s new!

Tree menu

bibisco’s vertical tree menu

This is the biggest innovation of this version. The horizontal menu has been replaced with a vertical tree menu.

The new menu allows you to move between the innermost sections of bibisco with fewer clicks and also provides a general outline of the project.

Setting the font size of the User Interface

This is one of the features that writers requested the most: the ability to increase the font size of the entire application, not just the font within the text editor.

Now you can choose whether to work at the standard size or with dimensions enlarged to 115% or 130%.

Additional fonts: Baskerville, Garamond, Georgia, Palatino

There are some fonts particularly loved by you writers: Baskerville, Garamond, Georgia, Palatino.

From today you can also use them in your favorite novel writing software (Supporters Edition only).

The possibilities of formatting the text written with bibisco are enriched.

From this new version it is also possible to set line spacing and paragraph spacing.

Setting the scenes’ separator on export

Not everyone likes to separate scenes with a white line. From today it is possible to separate the scenes also with three dots (…) or three asterisks (***).

Setting the title format and position on export

Also for the format of the chapterstitle, from this version there is more choice for writers, who can choose between:

  • Number & Title (example: 4. Andrea meets Valentina)
  • Only number (example: 4.)
  • Only title (example: Andrea meets Valentina)
  • “Chapter” & Number (example: Chapter 4)

Writers can also choose the position of the title: left or center.

Windows Installer

In addition to the portable version (a zip file to unpack) from this version, by popular demand of many users, it is possible to install bibisco with a traditional installer for Windows.

Supporters edition features are available for 30-day trial on Community Edition

I think the Supporters Edition features are so great that I have decided to let Community Edition users try them for 30 days as well.

They will find them irresistible!

  1. Hello Andrea Feccomandi,
I bought the supporter edition of your software, and I love it. I tried several other affordable (I’m retired with a small budget) writer software like yWriter8 and Scrivener, but I really like your software the most. Stll, there is room for some improverment. I would really like the following features integrated:
    1. I would like to have the possibility for the different scenes to (a) add a goal for the scene, (b) describe the main problem in the scene, that can be a conflict or a dillemma and (c) describe the result that mentions how the problem will be dealed with. Actually I use the notitions part of the chapters for this, but this is not very practical.
2.. I also really would like to be able to add illustrations to a scene. Actually I use the locations for this, but this can be very confusing when the same location appears several times in a book.
For the rest all my congratulations for this great software.
